Teaching the English Language reaching international standards can be made easy for teachers by adopting the right approach, using the appropriate strategies, and addressing critical areas of learning a language from young age to advanced learners. Edupedia is offering the following courses for English teachers:

1. Language & Literacy in the Early Years

This course is designed to equip English teachers for the early years (kindergarten and first grade primary) with the necessary skills to tackle the skills of the English language.
Participants in this course will:

• Design effective learning experiences to acquire different language skills.
• Using the balanced approach in teaching reading that combines the holistic language approach and phonics.
• Employ teaching techniques to start writing fluently and accurately.
• Utilize modern techniques in teaching to address the different developmental areas of children; mental, physical, social and linguistic.
• Use different assessment strategies and assessment tools in the early years.
• Become reflective practitioners, able to self-evaluate, self-appraise and develop professionally as teachers..
Module Duration: 18 Hours (face to face)
Self-study: Around 4 Hours (reading, portfolio activity development, etc.)

 

2. Language Skills in the Elementary Stage

This course provides English teachers of the Elementary/Primary years with the essential knowledge and skills to support students’ acquisition of the English language and achieve the proficiency level desired.
Participants in this course will:
• Understand the basics components of an integrated English language curriculum tackling all language skills.
• Employ effective learning engagements helping students use the language fluently and accurately.
• Explore and exploit the different types of teaching reading and how they are integrated into day-to-day teaching.
• Apply a Model-Practice-Reflect instructional cycle to teach writing strategies for features of different genre types.
• Utilize feedback strategies dealing with students’ mistakes and scaffolding learning.
• Become reflective practitioners, able to self-evaluate, self-appraise and develop professionally as teachers.
Module Duration: 18 Hours (face to face)
Self-study: Around 4 Hours (reading, portfolio activity development, etc.)

 

3. Advanced Literature and Language Skills

This course is designed for teaching advanced level students in more challenging English programs.
Participants in this course will:

• Construct an English programs following the latest theories in curriculum designing.
• Employ effective learning engagements helping students use the language fluently and accurately.
• Utilize different strategies of teaching advanced writing skills.
• Develop students’ critical literary skills through different text handling techniques.
• Design assessment tasks with matching criteria to accurately assess students’ language acquisition.
• Prepare students for high stake tests.
• Utilize feedback strategies dealing with students’ mistakes and scaffolding learning.
• Become reflective practitioners, able to self-evaluate, self-appraise and develop professionally as teachers.
Module Duration: 24 Hours (face to face)
Self-study: Around 4 Hours (reading, portfolio activity development, etc.)
